the WHOLE campaign
Our goal is to raise $120,000 during our 10th year of ministry to kickstart Great Road Church’s mission to live out a holistic gospel for our next 10 years.
UPDATE: As of May 2025, thanks to the tremendous generosity of this community, we have reached our campaign goal in pledges! Stay tuned for continued updates about these mission initiatives.
GREEN at home
$80,000 to install a solar system that will allow our church to be better stewards of God’s creation, while saving approximately $10,000 annually that can be invested directly into ministry and mission.
MERCY at the border
$20,000 to send an initial vision team in June 2025 to the Mexican side of the US border to develop a relationship with Misión de Caridad, to be followed by a second larger mission team in Spring 2026 to support their Esparanza school.
COMPASSION abroad
$20,000 to send a mission team in Summer 2026 to Ukraine to bring encouragement to the Legacy of Faith church community and support to their L.O.F.T. teen learning center, giving witness to God’s healing presence in the wake of war.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a "holistic gospel"?
Gospel simply means “good news.” Jesus proclaimed the good news that with his arrival the kingdom of God has come near. Christians often focus on one dimension or aspect or the gospel: it’s about individuals trusting God for salvation, or feeding the hungry, or experiencing God’s presence in worship. A big focus this year at Great Road is that the good news includes all of these things and more. God’s coming kingdom is about the renewal of all creation. That includes the whole person (body, mind, heart, soul) and the whole world (us personally, as well as people from every nation, and the entire environment).
What is our solar plan?
We’ve explored the possibility of solar since we moved into our Great Road location and have done due diligence with several trusted local companies. We are partnering with 621 Energy, a local Concord-based company that specializes in working with faith communities, installing many systems for local churches and synagogues. This campaign hopes to cover the lionshare of the net cost (after the 30% federal rebate) of a solar array that is designed to eliminate most of the electricity costs of our property’s 5 meters, while setting us up long-term to transition away from gas and oil towards electricity-based heating systems.
What is Misión de Caridad?
Misión de Caridad is a trusted ministry partner whose mission is to enable refugee, migrant, and vulnerable women and children on the Mexico side of the border to live with dignity, free of poverty. The ministry began in 2019, co-founded by Jean Sicurella who many in our church know well from Highrock Arlington. Travis actually created the first-ever promotional video for MdC. Over the years, Jean and her team have visited Great Road Church multiple times, sharing about the inspiring ministry and the opening of their Instituto Esparanza in August 2024, currently serving 56 students.

Who is Legacy of Faith Church?
Pastor Travis has a close relationship with Legacy of Faith church in Cherkasy, Ukraine, and our gift to them several summers ago enabled the formation of L.O.F.T. Space, an ongoing learning center for teens coping with the trauma of war. Legacy of Faith was founded in Kharkiv, Ukraine but moved to Cherkasy following Russia’s invasion in 2022. In Cherkasy, LoF provides ongoing support and community for refugees from the frontline regions as well as being a witness of God’s love to the city of Cherkasy. L.O.F.T. Space is led by Dr. Daryna Bogaslavska, and offers advanced tutoring for students in STEM, Ukrainian and English.

What do the funds for the mission trips cover?
The total cost (travel, lodging, food, etc.) to send a person to the Mexico side of the US border for a week is $2k/person. The goal is to cover all expenses with an initial several day visit by a 4-person vision team in 2025 led by Pastor Travis, and then a second 6-person team in 2026 that spends an entire week providing focused support to the educational program at Instituto Esparanza. The cost to send a person to Ukraine is approximately $4k/person, and the goal is to cover all expenses for a 10-day trip by a 5-person team led by Pastor Travis.
Are we supporting "mission tourism"?
A fair criticism of many short-term mission trips is that they are more about meeting the wishes of privileged westerners for a ‘cool’ cross-cultural experience than about meeting the actual needs of people, more about becoming spectators of impoverished persons than establishing a mutual relationship. These concerns should not lead us to reject mission trips altogether, but rather conduct them in the right spirit. Experts agree that proximity is the number one factor that compels people to move from awareness of world problems to concrete and long-term actions aimed at mercy and justice. These trips will allow multiple members of Great Road to establish real and proximate relationships with communities facing complex social problems like war and poverty, facilitate an understanding of actual need, and foster a long-standing relationship of advocacy and support between our communities so that we can live out our value of solidarity.
What happens if we exceed our goal?
If we exceed our preliminary goal in this campaign, we will be able to cover any additional arising costs in the solar project, considering sending future teams to Mexico and Ukraine as well as sending monetary donations to these ministries.
