“Power tends to corrupt.” Lord Acton’s perennial insight has taught us to be suspicious of power, and rightly so. After all, the gospel calls for the humbling of the proud and powerful. Yet it also invites us to receive the Holy Spirit’s power! How do we exercise and steward this good power? How do we live as empowered people with zero tolerance for the abuse of power?
